Non-Visual Desktop Access (NVDA) screen reader software instruction is available at NHILC to people who are blind or have vision impairment. Providing feedback via synthetic speech and Braille, NVDA allows people to access and interact with Windows operating system and many third party applications. Software and training are free. Computer Class for all skill levels is each Tuesday at New Horizons ILC, 10:00 a.m. to noon. |
Acupuncture Treatments: Miriam Benson, a licensed acupuncturist, provides acupuncture treatments for $35 in the NHILC conference room between 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursdays. Call Deborah at 772-1266 X 301 to schedule your appointment for the reduced-fee brief sessions, fully clothed in a seated position. Payment can be by check or cash. Patients are required to sign a consent and arbitration agreement before the first treatment. Mimi, is licensed, board certified and has been doing acupuncture for 15 years. She studied in China and will help you address pain and specific symptoms.

NHILC Arts and Crafts Group, Creative Crafters meets on the first Tuesday each month at 2:00 p.m. at NHILC. Each month will feature a project with materials and instructions. The next date is August 3.

Dave’s Out to Lunch Bunch meets on the 2nd Thursday each month at noon. The next Lunch is August 12 at Cracker Barrel in Prescott Valley. Their phone number is 772-0447. NHILC transportation to this event is available for a donation by calling 775-8870 in advance.

Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS) and Fibromyalgia Support Group meets on the 3rd Thursday at 2 p.m. at NHILC. The next meeting is August 19.

MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities) Support Group meets on the 3rd Tuesday at 2 p.m. The next date is August 17. The next generation of people with MCS: author will do pre-interviews, photos and stories of people with MCS for all walks of life, people who are homeless, people who have figured out housing, people with stories - 10 years later - a continuation of the Dispossessed Project.
